Lehigh Defense Maximum Expansion 300 Blackout 194 Grain Fracturing Tip BTHP Rifle Ammo, 20 Rounds, LA300BLK-194-ME
Lehigh Defense 300 AAC Blackout 194-grain Maximum Expansion is a premium subsonic expanding-bullet option. Unlike conventional hollow point bullets that rely on hydraulic pressure and jacket peeling for expansion - mechanisms that often fail at subsonic velocities below 1,100 fps - Lehigh's Maximum Expansion bullet uses CNC-machined copper construction with precisely engineered petals that are designed to deploy reliably at velocities as low as 800 fps. The result is a bullet that expands to approximately 2x its original diameter even at the reduced velocities inherent to subsonic .300 Blackout loads.
The current 20-round Lehigh loaded-ammunition SKU lists the 194gr Maximum Expansion bullet at 1,050 fps and 475 ft-lbs. The bullet opens into a distinctive star-shaped pattern with four symmetrical petals. Each petal is pre-scored during the CNC machining process, supporting consistent deployment across a wide range of impact velocities. The solid copper construction means the bullet retains virtually 100% of its weight during penetration, providing deep, straight-line wound channels with dramatic expansion.
The premium pricing reflects the advanced CNC machining process required to create each bullet from solid copper bar stock. Every bullet is manufactured to tight tolerances, with quality control processes that support consistent weight, dimensional accuracy, and petal deployment characteristics. For shooters who rely on suppressed .300 Blackout platforms for home defense or hunting, Maximum Expansion is a high-cost option worth function-testing beside Hornady Sub-X and other expanding subsonic loads.
