3M 6297 Reusable P100 Respirator (Medium)

The 3M 6297 is the low-cost reusable respirator kit in this guide. It combines a medium 6000-series half-mask with replaceable 2097 P100 filters. 3M rates the filters for at least 99.97 percent efficiency against solid and liquid aerosols, including oil-based particulates, and specifically references lead-standard use.

The kit is not automatically safe because it says P100. A tight-fitting respirator has to match the wearer's face, seal against clean-shaven skin, and be used according to its approval and instructions. Workplace use requires the applicable medical evaluation, fit testing, and respiratory-protection program.

The 2097 carbon layer offers only nuisance-level organic-vapor odor relief. It does not turn the kit into broad gas-and-vapor protection, and no particulate respirator makes a poorly ventilated range acceptable.
