The AS Designs Arc-Fire V1 Kit is the first-generation forced reset selector from AS Designs, built around the company's Active Reset Clutch (ARC) system. Unlike traditional forced reset triggers that can accelerate component wear, the Arc-Fire's mechanically leveraged design forces immediate trigger reset after each shot while reducing drag on the system for smoother operation during rapid fire. The Arc-Fire ships as a selector kit, not a complete fire control group. The box contains the ambidextrous primary selector, the ARC cam, the transfer lever, the detent bar, the ambidextrous selector levers, and a pre-cut trigger machined to Hoffman Tactical specs. You reuse your existing hammer, hammer spring, trigger spring, disconnector, and disconnector spring from the rifle.
You supply the rest: a 1/8-inch punch, a grip screwdriver, a bench block, and an H2 or H3 carbine buffer. AS Designs treats the heavier buffer as part of the install, not an optional tune. A standard carbine buffer is the most common cause of light primer strikes and hammer follow on a fresh Arc-Fire, and the manufacturer's stated fix is to start with an H2 and move to H3 if symptoms persist.
The Arc-Fire is a forced reset selector, not a forced reset trigger. It replaces the safety selector and works alongside your existing trigger. The pre-cut trigger in the kit substitutes for your trigger shoe; the hammer, springs, and disconnector stay.
The Arc-Fire is not a drop-in part. It replaces the safety selector with a system that times an ARC cam against the trigger group, and the cam orientation in step five is the single point where the install fails if you get it wrong. Work over a bench block on a cleared rifle with the upper separated from the lower.
Two orientation rules carry the install. The transfer lever tip must point away from the hammer and toward the rear of the lower. The cam must seat with its reset surface and groove at the bottom, closest to the transfer lever. Both are explicit in the AS Designs manual, and both are mechanical, not preference.
Drop the magazine, lock the bolt to the rear, and confirm an empty chamber both visually and physically. Push out both takedown pins and lift the upper away. The Arc-Fire installs entirely in the lower.
Remove your stock trigger shoe and install the pre-cut trigger from the kit, machined to Hoffman Tactical specs. Reuse the original trigger spring, disconnector, and disconnector spring. Seat the trigger pin so it slides with light thumb pressure rather than forcing it.
Reinstall the hammer and hammer spring, then cock the hammer rearward before going any further. The selector and cam will not time correctly against an uncocked hammer.
Attach the ambidextrous selector to the detent bar, then push the detent bar through the right side of the lower and through the transfer lever. The tip of the transfer lever must point away from the hammer and toward the rear of the receiver.
Rotate the selector to the semi position, then install the mil-spec selector detent and the pistol grip with its detent spring. Confirm every selector position clicks crisply against the ambidextrous selector before moving on.
Install the cam with its reset surface and groove at the bottom, closest to the transfer lever. This is the critical step. A cam installed upside down or facing the wrong way will not force reset and can cause malfunctions.
Install the primary selector matching the position of the ambidextrous selector, semi preferred, then thread the remaining selector screw. Do not torque past firm hand-tight.
Reassemble the rifle and run a function check keeping the transfer lever forward. Confirm the safety blocks the trigger, semi fires one round per pull, and ARC mode forces a single clean reset. Dry-fire the rifle through every mode before live fire.
If you see light primer strikes or hammer follow on first use, swap the carbine buffer for an H2, then H3 if symptoms remain. AS Designs documents this as the fix in 99 percent of cases. Stop live fire until the rifle runs clean.
The Arc-Fire is a three-position selector. Safe blocks the trigger exactly like a standard mil-spec safety. Semi is ordinary semi-automatic fire, one round per deliberate trigger press, using your existing trigger's pull weight and break. ARC is the forced reset mode.
In ARC mode the Active Reset Clutch uses the bolt carrier's rearward travel to mechanically push the trigger forward after each shot, so the trigger resets against your finger faster than a manual release. It still fires one round per trigger function. The shooter pulls, the rifle fires, the carrier cycles, and the clutch resets the trigger; the next round requires another distinct trigger pull. The throw angle to reach ARC depends on the variant you bought.
ARC is a reset mechanism, not an auto-fire mechanism. Each shot still requires its own trigger pull. The selector simply makes the reset faster and more consistent than releasing the trigger by hand.
