Overview

The Magpul SVG (Short Vertical Grip) is the compact addition to Magpul's M-LOK vertical foregrip lineup, sitting between the full-length MVG and a hand stop in both length and grip surface. Where the MVG is 3 inches tall and intended for a full wrap of the support hand, the SVG is shorter to suit shooters running compressed grip positions, tucked-in support arms on short-barrel rifles and pistols, or anyone who wants the positive index of a vertical surface without the bulk of a traditional VFG. The grip is ambidextrous and works the same for left and right-handed shooters with no flipping or modification.

Construction is reinforced polymer with Magpul's Trapezoidal Surface Projection (TSP) texture on the side panels, the same aggressive pattern used on the MOE+ grip series. The front and rear straps add serrations for a positive pull into the shoulder and push during recoil management. The mounting interface is direct M-LOK and seats flush to octagonal aluminum handguards. The SVG is not compatible with round handguards or polymer M-LOK rails; the flat-faced mounting surface requires the octagonal profile common on BCM, Aero Precision, Geissele, and Daniel Defense handguards from the last 5-7 years.

Real-world use places the SVG against the BCM KAG and Magpul's own MVG. The KAG runs a forward rake and works as an AFG-style hand stop, while the SVG keeps a true vertical orientation in a smaller footprint than the MVG. Shooters running short uppers or PCCs where rail real estate is tight will prefer the SVG; shooters wrapping the full support hand around a foregrip will still favor the MVG. At a $24.95 MSRP, the SVG sits at the same value tier as the existing Magpul M-LOK furniture lineup.

Key Features

  • Compact vertical foregrip profile between the MVG and a hand stop
  • Trapezoidal Surface Projection (TSP) texture on side panels
  • Serrated front and rear straps for positive purchase
  • Ambidextrous design for left or right-handed shooters
  • Direct M-LOK attachment with no adapter required
  • Reinforced polymer construction
  • Made in USA

Pros

  • +Smallest vertical grip in the Magpul lineup at $24.95 MSRP
  • +TSP texture and serrated straps deliver positive grip in wet or gloved conditions
  • +Direct M-LOK mount with no Picatinny adapter rail
  • +Ambidextrous shape works identically for left and right-handed shooters
  • +Compact footprint preserves rail space on short handguards

Cons

  • Octagonal aluminum M-LOK handguards only, will not fit round or polymer rails
  • Polymer construction less rigid than machined aluminum competitors
  • Smaller grip surface than the full-size MVG may not suit shooters who wrap the full support hand
  • Newer release with less long-term durability data than legacy MVG and AFG-2
