Overview

KV is the number that decides whether your build flies or melts, and 1855KV is the 6S answer on 5-inch props. Motor KV multiplied by pack voltage sets unloaded rotor speed, so a 6S pack at 22.2 V nominal turning an 1855KV motor lands in the same rpm window a 4S pack does on a 2755KV motor. Run the 2755KV wind on 6S and you will cook motors and ESCs. This is the single most common first-build mistake, and it is entirely avoidable.

The 2207 stator is 22 mm across and 7 mm tall, which is the mainstream freestyle size: enough copper to hang the quad on its props during a power loop, not so much rotating mass that it feels sluggish on a snap. iFlight builds these on a 5 mm titanium alloy shaft rather than the 4 mm steel shafts of budget motors, and uses center-slotted N52H curved arc magnets to sharpen throttle response. Each motor weighs 31.6 g with its 160 mm 20AWG leads attached, so all four add 126 g to the airframe.

Leads arrive unterminated, which is correct. You cut them to the length your stack needs and solder directly to the ESC pads, because splice-and-shrink joints are where builds fail vibration testing. iFlight rates the motor at 35.08 A peak and 841.90 W on a 24 V input, which is why the ESC recommendation on a 6S 5-inch is 55 A or higher per motor channel and not the 40 A board that looks cheaper.

Key Features

  • 1855KV wind, matched to 6S packs on 5-inch propellers
  • 2207 stator (22 mm diameter, 7 mm height) in a 12N14P configuration
  • 5 mm titanium alloy shaft rather than a 4 mm steel shaft
  • Center-slotted N52H curved arc magnets for faster throttle response
  • 31.6 g per motor including the wire
  • 16 x 16 mm mounting pattern with 3 mm holes
  • 160 mm 20AWG unterminated leads, cut to length for your stack

Pros

  • +1855KV on 6S is the safest, most documented power system for a first 5-inch
  • +Titanium shaft resists the bends that cost cheap motors their balance after a crash
  • +31.6 g is competitive weight for a 2207 with this much thrust on tap
  • +Sold as a set of four, so the build does not need a second order

Cons

  • Wrong wind on the wrong pack count destroys motors: 1855KV is 6S, 2755KV is 4S
  • Unterminated leads mean the build requires soldering, not plugging in
  • 35 A peak per motor demands a 55 A or larger 4-in-1 ESC on 6S
