Overview

The MSA Sordin Supreme Pro-X is the premium electronic muff that consistently earns the "best natural sound profile" rating in shooter reviews. Where the Peltor ComTac VI and Ops-Core AMP emphasize compression and digital processing, the Sordin emphasizes a transparent, low-latency reproduction of ambient sound that users describe as closer to bare-ear listening.

NRR is 18 dB with the standard gel ear cushions, which is lower than the Peltor's 23 dB but acceptable for most outdoor range use. Environmental listening amplifies ambient sound while compressing impulse noise (gunfire). The unit runs on AAA batteries, easier to source than the Peltor's 2x AA. Build quality is robust enough for hard outdoor use.

The Pro-X is sold in headband and behind-the-neck variants. For helmet mounting, MSA sells ARC-rail adapters separately; the headband version cannot be directly clipped onto an ARC rail without the adapter kit. At $309-339, the Pro-X is approximately half the Peltor ComTac VI and less than half the Ops-Core AMP, making it the best entry into the premium-headset tier for shooters who do not require radio integration.
