Burris Veracity PH 4-20x50

The Burris Veracity PH is the rare smart scope that fails gracefully. The PH stands for Programmable Heads-up, and the system pairs a digital sensor with a mechanical elevation turret Burris calls the PEK, or Programmable Elevation Knob. Instead of counting clicks, the shooter turns the dial until the heads-up display inside the scope shows the target distance in yards, with the turret adjusting at 1/10 MOA per click.

The display shows more than turret position. It reports rifle cant, rifle angle, distance-accurate wind holdover, and battery level, all inside the sight picture, so a hunter is not moving their eye to a level bubble or an angle indicator on the rail. Configuration happens through the BurrisConnect app over Bluetooth, where the ballistic profile gets loaded. The critical design decision is what happens after that: once configured, the scope functions without power. A dead battery costs the display and the yard readout, not the rifle.

At 29.1 oz on a 30mm tube, the Veracity PH is heavier than a conventional 4-20x50, which is the cost of the electronics package, and it runs two CR2450 cells rather than one common button cell. The RC-MOA reticle sits in the first focal plane, and eye relief is a tight 90.0 to 92.3 mm, roughly 3.5 to 3.6 inches, with little room to slide the scope fore and aft in the rings. The honest question a buyer should ask is whether the yard-based dial is worth the weight and the app dependency versus a Leupold CDS custom dial, which does the same job mechanically with no battery and no phone. For a hunter who changes loads or elevations often, the Veracity PH reprograms in software where the CDS requires a new dial.
