Amega Mounts
Forward-mounted picatinny rail that replaces the upper handguard for true scout-mount optic placement
The Mini-14's biggest aftermarket optic problem is geometry: the factory rear sight rail and the integral receiver scope-ring slots both sit too high for a comfortable cheek weld with anything bigger than a low-profile red dot. The factory drop-stock was designed for irons, not optics. Receiver-mounted scopes and red dots leave most shooters with a chin weld and a head bobbing for the dot.
The Amega Mini-Scout-Mount III solves the geometry problem by moving the optic forward of the receiver. The mount replaces the factory upper handguard with a heat-shielded 6061-T6 aluminum housing carrying a full-length Picatinny top rail, putting a scout-style red dot or long-eye-relief scope ahead of the gas system where the cheek weld actually lines up with the optic axis. It works on 580-series Ranch and Tactical rifles, and the heat-shield design lets the rifle run sustained strings without optic heat soak.
The Amega is sold direct from the manufacturer with no current OpticsPlanet listing, so the affiliate path is direct. The price is roughly $210, which is in line with a quality scope mount and well below the cost of a chassis-grade stock change. Pair it with a low-profile red dot like the Aimpoint T-2 or Holosun AEMS Core for the most complete Mini-14 optic upgrade available.
