It is machined from 7075 aluminum with a matte black hardcoat finish, and the dovetail features a progressive taper that simplifies installation compared to a straight cut. Compatible with 1911s from Colt, Springfield, Rock Island Armory, STI/Staccato (fixed rear sight models), Ruger, Sig Sauer, and others using the standard Novak rear sight cut. Note: this is the standard Novak cut, not the oversized variant. The mount drops the rear sight entirely, so there is no iron-sight backup unless the mounted optic provides one.
