VG6 Precision
Brake-and-compensator hybrid with no flash-hiding geometry, making it the VG6 device that is California featureless legal.
The VG6 Gamma 556 is the right VG6 device for a California featureless build, and choosing between VG6's two flagship devices is exactly the kind of detail that gets a build wrong. The popular VG6 Epsilon is a true combination brake, compensator, and flash hider with extended flash-hiding prongs; that flash-suppression geometry makes it a poor choice for a California featureless rifle, where flash hiders are a prohibited feature. The Gamma drops the flash-hiding function and runs purely as a brake-and-compensator hybrid, so it controls recoil and muzzle rise without crossing the line California draws.
It is machined from 17-4 PH heat-treated stainless with a black nitride finish, threads 1/2x28, and weighs only about 2.1 ounces, lighter than the steel King Comp. VG6 optimizes the chamber design for barrels between roughly 10.5 and 18.5 inches, and a crush washer is included so it installs without shoulder timing on a standard 5.56 barrel.
As with every muzzle device in this guide, the legality is state-specific. The Gamma is a sound California featureless choice and a prohibited feature in New York, where muzzle brakes and compensators are explicitly banned alongside threaded barrels. Match the device to the state, not the other way around.
