Steiner MPS 2.0

The Steiner MPS 2.0 is a battery and runtime overhaul of the original MPS rather than a new optic. Steiner moved the sight from a CR1632 to a CR2032 and stretched service life from 13,000 hours to as much as 90,000 hours at brightness level 4. Even at maximum brightness the 2.0 holds 27,000 hours, roughly double the original's best-case figure, which closes the largest gap between the MPS line and the Aimpoint ACRO P-2.

What made the first MPS worth buying carries over unchanged. The dot is still 3.3 MOA and the footprint is still ACRO, so any plate, slide cut, or offset mount already rated for the original MPS accepts the 2.0. Note that ACRO and MPS are not perfectly interchangeable across every plate: the Steiner recoil lug is marginally wider than Aimpoint's, so pick a mount that explicitly lists Steiner MPS support rather than ACRO alone. The emitter stays enclosed inside a reinforced all-metal housing, and Steiner added a metal hood over the front glass. The objective window measures 21 x 16mm, and the sight is submersible to 35 meters.

The handling changes target duty and carry use. Oversized brightness buttons work under gloves, a magnetic battery cover holds the CR2032 in place while the cover goes back on, and a lockout triggered by holding both buttons for three seconds keeps a holstered optic from being adjusted against the body. A 15-hour auto-off runs by default and can be disabled by holding both buttons for ten seconds, though doing so also disables the highest brightness level to protect runtime. Steiner also lists a 2 MOA version under item 8700000042 alongside the 3.3 MOA 8700000040, a dot option the original MPS never offered. The cost of the larger cell is mass: 2.32 oz against 2.05 oz on the original, on top of the height every ACRO-pattern optic adds over an RMR-pattern setup.
