Polymer Pew
Budget $99 forced-reset backplate that pushes the trigger bar forward to reset; the entry-level M&P 2.0 option.

The Polymer Pew M&P 2.0 Forced Reset Backplate is the budget entry into M&P 2.0 forced reset at $99, roughly half the cost of the Wojtek, Dogwood, and Freedom Finger units. It is a hardened, blackened S136 and 4140 steel backplate that replaces the factory striker plate. Rather than acting on the disconnector the way a full FRT trigger does, it pushes on the trigger bar, which then pushes the trigger forward to reset as the slide returns into battery. Once the slide passes the trigger bar it releases, and the gun returns to normal trigger function.
Because the mechanism is a reset-assist backplate rather than a disconnector-driven FRT, treat it as the entry-level forced-reset option, not a peer of the steel disconnector units. Polymer Pew fits it to standard M&P 2.0 pistols and warns explicitly that it will not work well, or at all, on the hinged-trigger M&P 2.0 variant. The maker suggests polishing the trigger bar if the slide feels sticky during function testing.
The 2025 DOJ settlement established that FRTs fire one round per function and are not machine guns, but it did not extend to handguns where the magazine loads into the grip, so an M&P forced reset device is a legally grayer purchase than a rifle FRT. State multiburst-device statutes also ban them in roughly fifteen jurisdictions. Confirm federal and local rules before buying and function-test thoroughly before relying on the device.
