The Dan Wesson Vigil is the most affordable entry into Dan Wesson's hand-fitted 1911 line, and it earns the "semi-custom" label that most production 1911s in this price bracket cannot. The defining feature is the forged aluminum frame paired with a stainless steel slide, which drops the Government-size Vigil to roughly 32.8 ounces. That is about six ounces lighter than an all-steel 5-inch 1911 like the Colt Government, and the weight savings is the entire point: the Vigil is the 1911 you can actually carry inside the waistband all day without a steel anchor pulling at your belt.

Dan Wesson, owned by CZ since 2005, builds the Vigil with the fit-and-finish touches that separate a custom-shop 1911 from a parts-bin gun. The front strap is checkered at 25 LPI for a positive grip under recoil, the trigger guard is undercut to raise the grip and tame muzzle flip, and the flats are hand-polished. The single-action trigger breaks in the 3.5 to 5 pound range with the clean, creep-free character the 1911 platform is judged by. A fixed tritium front night sight and a serrated tactical rear sight come standard, so the Vigil is sighted for low-light defensive work straight from the box rather than requiring an aftermarket sight swap.

It chambers .45 ACP at 8+1 in a single-stack frame, wears a matte black Duty finish, and ships on Government-spec dimensions for full 1911 aftermarket compatibility.
