Overview

The 2K11 is Kimber's answer to the Staccato XL at meaningfully less money. At $2,245 MSRP for the optics-ready model, it lands above the Springfield Prodigy but well below the Staccato XL and boutique 2011 builds. The differentiator from Kimber's smaller KDS9c is meaningful: the 2K11 takes Check-Mate magazines that share the Staccato 2011 pattern, so spare mags are interchangeable across the broader 2011 ecosystem rather than being Kimber-proprietary.

The 5" fluted bull barrel, 17+1 flush capacity (20+1 with extended mags), and 8.56" overall length put this firmly in the competition and duty category. Pew Pew Tactical's review measured the GT Match Grade trigger at 3.5 lb single-action with a clean break, and reliability across multiple ammo types was 100%. The slide ships with a C&H Precision RMR adapter plate already installed, eliminating the proprietary-plate friction that the KDS9c launched with.

The trade-offs are weight and width. At 40.9 oz unloaded and 1.4" wide at the grip, this is not a carry gun, it is a duty/competition pistol that competes directly with the Staccato P4 and HD P4. Where the Staccato HD pivots to Glock magazines, the 2K11 stays inside the traditional 2011 mag ecosystem with Check-Mate steel mags. That is a defensible choice for shooters who already run Staccato-pattern guns and want to share inventory.

Key Features

Pros

  • +$2,245 MSRP keeps it below many full-size factory 2011 competitors with optic plate installed
  • +Check-Mate Staccato-pattern mag compatibility, not Kimber-proprietary
  • +C&H Precision RMR plate ships pre-installed, no aftermarket sourcing
  • +GT Match trigger at 3.5 lb out of the box

Cons

  • 40.9 oz unloaded is duty/competition weight, not carry

  • Only RMR-footprint plate currently in production (no RMSc/ACRO/509T)
  • Kimber's 1911 QC track record has historical inconsistency
  • 1.4" grip width is wider than a Glock 17
  • Smaller aftermarket than Staccato or SIG 2011 ecosystems
