Whidden's contribution is making shoulder bump a dialed setting instead of a lock-ring guess. The sizing die and its dedicated lock ring work together to give the adjustment a clicking feel, and each click moves shoulder bump one thousandth of an inch. If you have ever tried to sneak a die down a few thousandths by feel, backed it off, and lost the setting entirely, the value is obvious. The design is patented. The set pairs that sizer with a Whidden micrometer seating die whose internal sliding sleeve improves concentricity and adjusts seating depth in thousandth-inch increments, and it includes a shoulder bump gauge so you can measure what you just dialed rather than trusting it. The sizer takes bushings from Whidden, Redding, or Wilson, which is unusually accommodating, but they are not in the box. One hard limitation comes straight from Whidden: the Click Adjustable sizing die will not work with a Dillon 550 or 650 press, so progressive owners should check their machine before ordering.
