M&P 10mm M2.0 optic footprint: what red dots fit

Smith & Wesson M&P 10mm M2.0 Optics Ready

The M&P 10mm M2.0 ships optics ready and mounts red dots through Smith & Wesson's C.O.R.E. plate system rather than through a single footprint. Its slide is machined to accept C.O.R.E. adapter plates: the plate for your dot bolts into the slide, then the dot bolts to the plate. The factory kit covers the Trijicon RMR and Holosun 507C pattern plus the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and machined plates carry the same slide to the Aimpoint ACRO and to the Holosun EPS and Shield RMSc / Holosun K patterns. Suppressor-height three-dot irons come standard, so a dot on a plate still leaves a usable backup sight picture.

Caliber is not what decides the plate here. C&H Precision specifies its M&P plates for all calibers of M2.0 optics-ready slides, so a plate cut for a 9mm M2.0 bolts into the 10mm the same way. Barrel length is the dimension that does not cross: Smith & Wesson sells the 10mm M2.0 optic-ready slide in 4-inch and 4.6-inch versions, each specified for pistols with the matching barrel. Recoil is the other difference, and it is the argument for a steel plate over the plastic factory one.

M&P 10mm M2.0 optic fitment FAQ

What optic footprint does the M&P 10mm M2.0 use?

Do I need an adapter plate to mount a red dot on the M&P 10mm M2.0?

Yes, for almost every optic. The M&P 10mm M2.0 mounts red dots through a plate system, so you bolt the plate matching your optic's footprint into the slide and then bolt the optic to the plate. The exceptions are optics built for that pocket, such as the C&H Direct Mount Optic for S&W M&P 2.0, which mount with no plate. Plates are available for the Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C, Shield RMSc / Holosun K, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, Aimpoint ACRO and Holosun 509T footprints.

Does the Holosun 507C X2 fit a M&P 10mm M2.0?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun 507C X2 is a Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C footprint optic, so it mounts on the M&P 10mm M2.0 using a matching plate such as the Forward Controls OPF-SW RMR Plate and Smith & Wesson M&P CORE Factory Optic Plate Kit. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Trijicon RMR Type 2 fit a M&P 10mm M2.0?

Yes, on a plate. The Trijicon RMR Type 2 is a Trijicon RMR / Holosun 507C footprint optic, so it mounts on the M&P 10mm M2.0 using a matching plate such as the Forward Controls OPF-SW RMR Plate and Smith & Wesson M&P CORE Factory Optic Plate Kit. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Holosun 507K X2 fit a M&P 10mm M2.0?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun 507K X2 is a Shield RMSc / Holosun K footprint optic, so it mounts on the M&P 10mm M2.0 using a matching plate such as the C&H Precision S&W M&P M2.0 CORE to Holosun EPS / EPS Carry / SCS Carry Plate and Calculated Kinetics S&W M&P 2.0 DOGTAG Optic Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Does the Holosun EPS Carry fit a M&P 10mm M2.0?

Yes, on a plate. The Holosun EPS Carry mounts on the M&P 10mm M2.0 using a matching plate such as the C&H Precision S&W M&P M2.0 CORE to Holosun EPS / EPS Carry / SCS Carry Plate and Calculated Kinetics S&W M&P 2.0 DOGTAG Optic Plate. Install the plate to the slide first, then the optic to the plate.

Do 9mm M&P M2.0 optic plates fit the 10mm M2.0?

Yes. C&H Precision specifies its S&W M&P plates for all calibers of Smith & Wesson M2.0 optics-ready slides, 9mm and 10mm alike, because the C.O.R.E. pocket and screw spacing do not change with the chambering. The choice that does matter on a 10mm is plate material. The factory C.O.R.E. plate is plastic and its optic screws thread through the plate into the slide; a machined steel plate carries the load in the plate body instead.

Should I run an enclosed-emitter dot on the M&P 10mm M2.0?

It is the better choice for a hunting or field gun, and every enclosed pattern has a plate here. The Aimpoint ACRO has its own steel C.O.R.E. plate, and the Holosun EPS and EPS Carry mount on the EPS and K plate. An enclosed emitter seals the path between the LED and the lens, so rain, snow and debris cannot block the dot the way they can on an open-emitter sight carried muzzle-up in a chest rig.
