What EOTech Actually Changed
EOTech did not build a new sight. The HHS UNITY I is the existing EXPS3-0 and the existing G33 3x magnifier, sold under one part number with Unity Tactical hardware where EOTech's own mounts normally go. A FAST Optic Riser sits under the sight and a FAST FTC OMNI mount sits under the magnifier, and both put the optical axis at 2.26 inches above the rail.
That is the whole product, and it is a more interesting move than it sounds. The 2.26-inch height and the flip-to-center magnifier mount are the two upgrades serious carbine shooters have been buying separately for years, which meant a factory HHS package was the wrong starting point: you paid for EOTech's Switch-to-Side mount and the sight's integrated base, then immediately replaced both. Selling the combination assembled removes that step.
The sight, the riser, and the FTC mount are made in the USA; the magnifier is assembled and tested in the USA. EOTech frames the pairing as giving the shooter “uncompromised speed and precision at either close- or long-range situations.”

Why 2.26 Inches Is the Point
A 2.26-inch optical centerline exists to keep the shooter's head up. Behind a helmet, a mounted PVS-14, ear pro, a gas mask, or a plate carrier, a co-witness-height sight forces the head down and forward into the stock, and gear gets in the way before the eye finds the window. Raising the sight line to 2.26 inches lets the shooter stay upright and index the gun against the shoulder rather than the cheek, which is why the height became the default in the night vision and duty-carbine world.
The tradeoff is real and worth naming: on a bare rifle with no helmet and no night vision, 2.26 inches is a taller mechanical offset and nothing else. Holdovers at close range change, the gun gets a little more top-heavy, and none of the ergonomic benefit shows up. If the rifle never wears a helmet or an intensifier, the standard HHS is the cheaper, lighter answer. Flip-to-Center Versus Switch-to-Side
Flip-to-center moves the stowed magnifier down instead of out. EOTech's Switch-to-Side mount swings the G33 to the right of the receiver, where it hangs past the rail and becomes something to catch a sling, a plate carrier, or a door frame. Unity's FTC mechanism rotates the magnifier straight down below the sight's optical plane, leaving it inside the receiver's footprint with the 1x sight picture completely clear above it.
Nothing about the transition speed changes: both are a thumb sweep, both hit a hard stop, and both leave the magnifier on the gun. What changes is the gun's profile when the magnifier is not in use, which matters most in vehicles, doorways, and any environment where the rifle is being moved through tight space rather than carried at a low ready.
The FTC OMNI is not EOTech-specific. The optical and electronic specs carry over from the parts EOTech already sells. The EXPS3-0 runs 20 daylight brightness settings plus 10 night vision settings on a single CR123 for a rated 1,000 continuous hours, adjusts in 0.5 MOA clicks, clamps to MIL-STD-1913 rail, and is water resistant to 33 feet. The G33 gives 2.2 inches of eye relief. Overall the assembled system measures 8.35 x 2.65 x 3.6 inches.
The 68 MOA ring with a 1 MOA center dot is calibrated for 62 grain .223 at 2,900 fps and provides three aiming points. On a shotgun the ring approximates a shot pattern, though the actual spread depends on choke and shell. Because the reticle is a projected hologram rather than a reflected LED, the 1 MOA dot stays 1 MOA when the G33 is flipped in, instead of growing to 3 MOA the way a magnified red dot does. Who This Package Is For
Buy the HHS UNITY I if the rifle is going to run night vision, a helmet, or a gas mask, and you were already going to end up on Unity hardware. In that case the package is the assembled version of a build you would otherwise piece together, and it removes the usual sequence of buying an HHS, setting EOTech's mounts aside, and ordering a riser and an FTC separately.
Skip it if the gun is a daylight carbine. The EXPS3-0 and G33 are the same optics in the standard HHS packages, and at co-witness height on the Switch-to-Side mount you get identical glass for less money and less weight. There is also a middle path worth naming: the FTC OMNI and FAST riser are sold individually, so a shooter who already owns an EXPS3 and a G33 upgrades the mounts without rebuying the optics.
At $1,499 street this is the most expensive way into an EXPS3 and a G33, and every dollar of the premium buys mounting hardware rather than optical performance. That is a fair trade for the shooter who needs the height and a bad one for the shooter who does not.
