Overview
CCI Quiet-22 is the quietest factory .22 LR you can buy. At 710 fps the 40gr lead round nose produces a report CCI rates at roughly 75 percent quieter than a standard-velocity round, low enough that unsuppressed it reads closer to a high-end air rifle than a firearm. For backyard pest control, teaching new shooters without a flinch reflex, or any setting where noise is the real constraint, nothing factory-loaded is quieter.
The catch is mechanical. At 710 fps Quiet-22 does not generate enough energy to cycle most semi-automatic actions; it is a bolt-action, lever, single-shot, and revolver load. Shooters who want this quiet from a semi-auto should run the CCI Quiet-22 Semi-Auto 45gr load (item 975CC), which steps velocity up to roughly 1,000 fps to work an autoloading action while staying far quieter than standard ammo.
Even suppressed, Quiet-22 is the closest thing to silent shooting in a 10/22 or bolt gun. Pair it with a rimfire can on a manually cycled rifle and the loudest sound is often the firing pin.
