CCI
The budget target load that punches above its price. Standard-velocity 40gr that prints surprisingly tight groups.
CCI Standard Velocity is the load that quietly outperforms its price. At a standard-velocity 1,070 fps, the 40gr lead round nose stays well below the transonic turbulence that wrecks accuracy with high-velocity ammo, and testers regularly report sub-2-inch groups at 100 yards from a decent bolt gun. For a load that costs a fraction of European match ammunition, that is remarkable.
The 1,070 fps velocity sits just under the speed of sound, which gives it a second use as an entry-level suppressor load. It is quieter than high-velocity plinking ammo through a can, though dedicated subsonic loads with heavier bullets stay reliably subsonic across more barrel lengths.
This is the load to buy before stepping up to Lapua Center-X or Eley Tenex. It will tell you how well your rifle shoots and whether match ammunition is worth the jump, all without committing match-ammo money to find out. It feeds most semi-autos but, like all standard-velocity loads, may not reliably cycle the springiest blowback actions.
