Lapua Center-X .22 LR 40gr LRN

Lapua Center-X is the match load that anchors smallbore competition shelves worldwide. Every cartridge is individually checked and every lot is tested for ballistic consistency, gas pressure, and grouping before release, which is what separates dedicated match ammunition from premium plinking ammo. The 40gr lead round nose runs a subsonic 1,073 fps with 102 ft-lbs at the muzzle.

Center-X sits at the value end of true match ammunition. It does not chase the absolute tightest groups the way Eley Tenex or Lapua Midas+ do, but it delivers a large share of that performance for meaningfully less money, which is why so many ISSF, NRL22, and rimfire benchrest shooters settle on it for the bulk of their training and many of their matches.

Match .22 LR is rifle-specific. A given lot that prints bug-hole groups in one barrel may open up in another, so serious shooters lot-test and then buy a quantity of the lot their rifle prefers. Center-X is the load most worth lot-testing first because it sets the price-to-performance bar everything else is measured against.
