Overview

The Steiner T6Xi 3-18x56 is the tactical middle of Steiner's US-built T-series, pairing a 6x zoom ratio with a 56mm objective on a 34mm tube. The 3x bottom end is the practical argument for this scope over a 5-25x: it stays usable inside 100 yards on a gas gun, which a 5x-minimum PRS scope does not.

Turrets are the T6Xi's identity. Windage and elevation both lock, both use Steiner's low-profile Never-Lost design, and both carry a second rotation indicator, so the shooter always knows which revolution is dialed. It is the feature most often missing on scopes that otherwise match this one on glass. The SCR2 MIL reticle sits in the first focal plane with 7 daylight and 4 night vision illumination settings off a CR2450.

At 34.4 oz and 13.6 inches, the T6Xi 3-18x56 is a heavy optic, which is the honest cost of a 56mm objective and a 34mm tube. Against the Nightforce ATACR 4-16x42 F1, the Steiner gives up nothing on turret feel and gains a wider zoom range and a larger objective. Against the Vortex Razor HD Gen III, the Steiner is lighter on features and simpler in reticle choice. Eye relief runs 3.5 to 3.3 inches across the magnification range.

Key Features

  • First focal plane SCR2 MIL reticle
  • Locking windage and elevation on low-profile Never-Lost turrets
  • Second rotation indicator confirms the dialed elevation revolution
  • 6x zoom ratio from a usable 3x through 18x
  • 56mm objective on a 34mm tube for light transmission and adjustment room
  • 7 daylight and 4 night vision illumination settings on a CR2450
  • Diopter locking ring holds reticle focus once set
  • Waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof construction
  • Made in the United States

Pros

  • +Locking windage and elevation with a second rotation indicator
  • +3x bottom end stays usable up close, unlike 5x-minimum PRS scopes
  • +56mm objective gathers light well at dawn and dusk
  • +FFP subtensions valid at any magnification
  • +Built in the United States
  • +Wider zoom range and a larger objective than the Nightforce ATACR 4-16x42 F1

Cons

  • 34.4 oz is heavy for a lightweight or field-carried rifle
  • 13.6 inches of length demands rail space and careful ring placement
  • 34mm tube narrows ring and mount selection versus 30mm
  • SCR2 offered in MIL on this item; no MOA turret pairing in this SKU
  • 18x ceiling is short of the 25x and 30x scopes PRS shooters often prefer
  • CR2450 is less common in a range bag than CR2032
