Savage 110 Ultralite Elite V2

The Ultralite Elite V2 is the rifle Savage builds when weight is the whole point. The barrel is a PROOF Research carbon-fiber-wrapped stainless blank rather than the in-house carbon barrel used elsewhere in the Ultralite line, and it sits in an MDT HNT26 chassis whose center section is machined magnesium and whose forend, pistol grip, and foam-filled buttstock are carbon fiber. Savage lists 5.8 to 6.2 pounds across the chambering range, with the 6.5 Creedmoor 18-inch SKU at 6 pounds. That is ultralight-class weight for a centerfire hunting rifle, and it arrives with a detachable magazine, a folding stock, and an ARCA rail that most rifles in that class leave out.

The HNT26 is what you are paying for above the Ultralite Pro. The buttstock folds, which takes about nine inches off the packed length of a rifle you are strapping to a frame pack, and it adjusts for both length of pull and comb height with four quarter-inch spacers in the box. The forend carries an integrated ARCA rail for tripod work. The receiver is stainless with a Blackout Cerakote finish, drilled and tapped 8-40 rather than the more common 6-48, and it wears a one-piece 20 MOA Picatinny rail. The bolt is diamond fluted and Cerakoted with a carbon fiber knob on a 5/16x24 threaded handle.

The V2 designation is a mechanical change, not a cosmetic one. Savage revised the bolt face to run dual ejectors with an updated extractor, changed the magazine, and added chamberings on what is otherwise the previous exterior. The muzzle is threaded 5/8x24 and ships with a Savage Omniport brake, so a suppressor swaps straight on. Chamberings run 6.5 Creedmoor at 18 and 22 inches, .308 Win at 18 inches, and 6.5 PRC, 6.8 Western, .300 WSM, 7mm PRC, .300 Win Mag, and .300 PRC at 20 inches, plus a 7mm Backcountry 18-inch SKU.
