Steiner H6Xi 3-18x50

The Steiner H6Xi 3-18x50 takes the optical stack from the tactical T6Xi and repackages it for a hunting rifle. At 27.4 oz and 13.3 inches on a 30mm tube, it sheds 7 oz against the 34.4 oz T6Xi 3-18x56 while keeping first focal plane subtensions and Steiner's glass. Set expectations correctly on weight: this is a lighter T6Xi, not a lightweight scope. The Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44 is 19.7 oz, nearly 8 oz under the H6Xi, so a shooter counting ounces on a mountain rifle should look there first.

What the H6Xi buys instead is optical and mechanical quality. Steiner rates light transmission at 92%, and the 50mm objective plus fine side-focus parallax down to 25 yards covers a close timber shot and a long field shot with the same optic. Elevation adjusts at 0.25 MOA with 75 MOA total travel, and the whole tube is milled from solid 6061-T6 aluminum. The Modern Hunter Reticle behaves as a plain duplex at low magnification, keeping the sight picture clean for a quick offhand shot, then reveals finer holdover and wind subtensions as magnification climbs. Illumination runs on a rotary dial off a CR2032.

Steiner rates the scope waterproof to 33 feet, fogproof, and shockproof, and the H6Xi 3-18x50 earned Petersen's Hunting Editor's Choice for 2023. The honest limitation is elevation travel. 75 MOA total is modest for an 18x scope, so a shooter planning to dial well past a few hundred yards should budget for a canted rail rather than assume the internal range covers it.
