FN America
The factory FN steel magazine for the SCAR 17; the proprietary mag every SCAR 17 owner should stock first.
+11 more
The FN SCAR 17 feeds from a proprietary steel magazine that does not interchange with anything else. It is not an SR25/AR-10 mag, not an M14/M1A mag, and not a FAL mag, so the AR-10 PMAGs sitting in your safe will not run a SCAR 17. That makes factory FN magazines the first purchase for any new SCAR 17 owner, ahead of optics, triggers, or rails. Magazines are the highest-ROI, do-it-first upgrade, and on a $3,500-plus rifle there is no reason to gamble on feeding.
The factory 20-rounder is a steel body built for 7.62 NATO and .308 Win pressures, and the current 98892 generation also fits the SCAR 20S and feeds 6.5 Creedmoor. Street price runs around $55. ProMag makes a polymer alternative around $20 that is fine for range plinking, but the factory steel mag is the one to trust for defensive or duty use. Note that the SCAR 16 is a different story entirely: it runs standard STANAG AR-15 magazines, so SCAR 16 owners should stock Magpul PMAGs rather than proprietary parts.
