Magpul
10-round Gen M3 polymer magazine that meets the magazine-capacity caps in California, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
The Magpul PMAG 10 Gen M3 is the magazine that makes the rest of a featureless build legal. Going featureless removes the rifle from a state's assault-weapon feature test, but it does nothing about magazine capacity, and California, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut all cap detachable magazines at 10 rounds. A featureless AR-15 in any of those states still has to feed from 10-round magazines, which is exactly what this PMAG is.
It is the same Gen M3 architecture as the ubiquitous 30-round PMAG, scaled to a 10-round body: crush-resistant polymer, a four-way anti-tilt follower, a constant-curve internal geometry, and a USGI-spec stainless spring. The shorter body actually handles better from the bench and prone, which is where many compliant-state shooters spend most of their range time. A pop-off dust cover is included.
At roughly $14 it is the cheap, no-excuses way to stock a magazine-restricted-state build. Buy enough to fill a range bag; the per-magazine cost is low and reliability is the same gold standard the 30-round PMAG set. Pair it with a featureless grip or stock kit and a state-appropriate muzzle device to complete a compliant rifle.
