Steyr Arms
Factory Steyr 30-round 5.56 NATO AUG magazine with translucent polymer body for instant round count.
The Steyr AUG uses a proprietary 30-round magazine that is NOT cross-compatible with AR-15 STANAG mags. The mag well geometry, latch position, and follower differ from the AR-pattern, and the rifle requires AUG-specific magazines from Steyr Arms or Magpul. Factory Steyr mags are the OEM choice, manufactured to the same spec the rifle was designed around, and feed reliably across the A1, A2, A3, and A3 M1 variants.
This 30-round version uses a translucent polymer body with a black floor plate, and the body window allows instant round-count assessment. Construction is glass-reinforced polymer with an anti-tilt follower. The magazine drops free cleanly from the AUG mag well. Steyr also offers a clear smoke amber body with OD green floor plate at a similar price for shooters who prefer the more distinctive AUG aesthetic, and a 42-round version (typically around $54) for range and competition use.
Stock the rifle with at least four to six factory mags before chasing aftermarket parts. The AUG mag market is small, and factory Steyr availability fluctuates with import shipments. The Magpul PMAG 30 AUS GEN M3 Window ($26) is the lower-cost alternative and runs reliably in most AUGs, but factory Steyr mags remain the duty-grade default.
