Matador Arms
Full-length aluminum Picatinny rail that replaces the SKS dust cover and rear sight for a mount that holds zero.
+7 more
The SKS was built for iron sights, and every clamp-on dust-cover rail inherits the same flaw: the stamped top cover is a loose part that flexes and shifts under recoil, so optics mounted to it walk off zero. Matador Arms solves that by anchoring to the receiver instead. The SKS Optics Rail replaces both the dust cover and the rear sight, then locks down at the rear takedown pin. That dual anchor is the whole point; it gives the rail two fixed contact points on the rifle rather than riding a part that was never meant to hold glass.
The rail is machined from solid 6061 aluminum in a 10-inch length and weighs 5.6 ounces, so it adds a full-length Picatinny top without much heft. A built-in shell deflector angles spent brass away from the optic and the shooter, which cuts down on the stovepipes and erratic ejection that plague scoped SKS carbines where empties would otherwise hit the scope body. Installation runs about five minutes and needs no drilling or permanent modification.
Cleaning access is preserved. Pull the rear takedown pin and the rail flips up so you can lift the top cover, the same teardown the rifle always had. For an SKS owner who wants a magnified optic or a red dot that actually returns to zero, this is the rail to buy over the cheaper clamp-on covers.
