Steam Demon Compensator (.22LR)

The Steam Demon sits at the top of the TANDEMKROSS rimfire comp line and takes a different approach from the Game Changer pair. Where the Game Changer uses a closed body with directed ports, the Steam Demon is an open design, which means there is far less enclosed surface for rimfire fouling to cake onto and far less to reach into when it does. Construction is steel with an easy-clean coating over it, so a range day of dirty bulk .22 wipes down instead of soaking.

Caliber coverage is the broadest in the line: .22LR, .22WMR, .17 HMR, 5.7x28mm, and 5.56x25mm/.223 Rem. TANDEMKROSS specifies conventional rimfire muzzle threading of 1/2x28 with a .400 inch thread length, which is the standard on almost every threaded rimfire barrel but is worth measuring on an aftermarket barrel before ordering. Installation is toolless: thread it on, use the included rubber o-ring to clock it and hold position, and add the optional flat washer if the barrel is thin or the gun runs a thread adapter. TANDEMKROSS notes the flat washer is generally unnecessary on fixed barrels over .800 inches in diameter.

The supported model list runs to the Browning Buck Mark, Ruger 10/22, Ruger Mark IV Tactical, Mark IV 22/45 LITE and 22/45 Tactical, the TaurusTX 22 series, S&W SW22 Victory, Kel-Tec CP33 and CMR-30, Ruger Precision Rimfire, Ruger American, Ruger-5.7, Ruger SR22, Tippmann Arms M4-22, SIG Sauer P322, and the FN 502 Tactical. The Walther P22 is not on that list, so P22 owners should look at the Game Changer or Game Changer PRO instead. TANDEMKROSS calls out that regular cleaning of any muzzle device is required to keep it functioning, which matters more on rimfire than anywhere else.
