Bushnell
Sub-$100 micro red dot floor; the entry-tier option for budget AR builds
The Bushnell TRS-25 is the floor of the legitimately-functional red dot market. At roughly $90 street, it is the answer to "I just want something that works for plinking and basic home defense, and I do not want to spend Aimpoint money." It is not a duty optic and Bushnell does not pretend it is.
The 3 MOA dot, 25mm objective, and 11 brightness settings handle range use and casual carbine work. CR2032 battery life runs up to roughly 5,000 hours depending on brightness, with no auto-shutoff. The integrated Weaver-style mount means no separate riser purchase is needed for AR rail use, though it sits low and will not co-witness with iron sights without an additional riser.
Honest limits: not night vision compatible, IPX5 water resistant rather than truly submersible, and Bushnell's two-year warranty is a fraction of Aimpoint or Vortex VIP coverage. Real-world durability is adequate for civilian range use; this is not the optic to take to a multi-day carbine course or use as a primary defensive optic. For training-only AR builds, .22 conversions, and rimfire rifles, it does the job at a price that lets buyers spend the savings on ammunition.
