EOTech EXPS3

The EOTech EXPS3 represents the current generation of holographic weapon sight technology, combining the company's quick-acquisition reticle with night vision compatibility and professional-grade construction. Unlike traditional red dots that project an LED onto the lens, EOTech's true holographic technology creates a reticle suspended in the target plane, eliminating parallax and providing unlimited eye relief—even when shooting from unconventional positions.

The iconic 68 MOA ring with 1 MOA center dot enables instant target acquisition at close quarters while the small center dot provides precision for longer engagements. The ring also serves as a ranging tool: when a human-sized target fills the ring from top to bottom, that target is at approximately 100 yards. With 20 daylight brightness settings and 10 night vision compatible settings, the EXPS3 performs in any lighting condition. The side-mounted buttons and shorter profile accommodate magnifiers and flip-to-side mounts perfectly.

EOTech's history requires acknowledgment: in 2015, L-3 Communications paid $25.6 million to settle a lawsuit alleging they knowingly sold the U.S. military defective optics experiencing thermal drift (±4 MOA shifts at extreme temperatures) and cold weather reticle distortion since 2006. Post-2016 units are generally considered improved with thermal performance now comparable to competitors. However, ongoing delamination issues—where moisture incursion causes the reticle to dim or disappear—remain a concern for some users. The EXPS3 is submersible to 33 feet with a quick-detach lever mount for tool-free installation. The transversely mounted CR123 battery provides approximately 1,000 hours of runtime and can be replaced without removing the sight.
