Holosun HE510C-GR Elite

The Holosun HE510C-GR Elite is the open-emitter red dot that built Holosun's reputation as the value leader in the rifle reflex category. The "510" denotes Holosun's large-window form factor, "C" indicates solar-failsafe construction, and "GR" indicates the green LED. The "HE" prefix marks the etched reticle, which remains visible as a black silhouette even with a dead battery and dead solar.

The reticle switches between a 2 MOA dot, a 65 MOA ring, or both together with a single button push. The 65 MOA ring works as a fast CQB reference, the 2 MOA dot works for precision past 100 yards, and the combined display covers both roles in a single optic. Battery life runs 50,000 hours on the standard CR2032, supplemented by the solar panel for indefinite daytime operation.

Compared with Aimpoint's PRO at the same general price tier, the 510C trades the closed Aimpoint housing for a much larger viewing window, switchable reticle, and roughly half the weight. Trade-offs: open emitter is more vulnerable to mud and snow occlusion, and Holosun's long-term durability record does not match Aimpoint's two-decade military deployment history. For most civilian and competition use, the value proposition is overwhelming.
