Overview

The Dogwood Armory Forced Reset Device for the M&P 2.0 is a 4140 steel non-select forced reset unit that documents some of the widest variant fitment of the M&P pistol FRTs. Dogwood lists fitment for Full, Compact, Subcompact, Metal, Performance Center, and Thumb Safety M&P 2.0 models in 9mm, 10mm, .40 cal, and .45 cal, and unlike the Freedom Finger unit it lists no Apex Forward Set Sear restriction. It uses slide cycling to drive the trigger forward to reset while keeping one trigger pull per round, and it is non-select-fire with no selector.

Fitment is M&P 2.0 only; Dogwood does not claim original M&P 1.0 compatibility. The device installs as a drop-in striker-area swap and is fully reversible by reinstalling the factory parts.

The 2025 DOJ settlement established that FRTs fire one round per function and are not machine guns, but it did not extend to handguns where the magazine loads into the grip, so an M&P pistol FRT is a legally grayer purchase than a rifle FRT. State multiburst-device statutes also ban them in roughly fifteen jurisdictions. Confirm your federal, state, and local rules before buying, and function-test the device with your carry or range ammunition before relying on it.
