Overview

The Freedom Finger M&P 2.0 FRT is a black-nitrided 4140 steel non-select forced reset trigger, and it carries the cleanest, most explicit fitment statement of any M&P pistol FRT. Freedom Finger lists every M&P 2.0 size and configuration, Full, Compact, Subcompact, Metal, Performance, and Thumb Safety, across 9mm, 10mm, .40 cal, and .45 cal, then names exactly what does not fit: the original M&P 1.0, the Shield, SD, FPC, and Bodyguard lines, and any M&P 2.0 running the Apex Forward Set Sear Actuator. That last exclusion matters for owners who have already done an Apex sear job. The unit is non-select-fire and resets via slide cycling with one pull per round, and at $202.50 it sits at the top of the M&P FRT price range. Freedom Finger is awaiting an ATF classification letter on this unit and currently fulfills it through California Gun Shop, which stocks the trigger with same-day shipping.

The 2025 DOJ settlement established that FRTs fire one round per function and are not machine guns, but it did not extend to handguns where the magazine loads into the grip, and Freedom Finger is awaiting its own ATF classification letter on this unit, so an M&P FRT is a legally grayer purchase than a rifle FRT. State multiburst-device bans also apply in roughly fifteen jurisdictions. Verify your federal, state, and local rules before ordering, and function-test with your intended ammunition before relying on the device.
