The CMMG Resolute Mk4 in .350 Legend solves a specific legal problem for hunters in Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and parts of Pennsylvania, where rifle cartridges are prohibited for deer and only straight-wall cartridges are allowed. .350 Legend was engineered by Winchester in 2019 specifically to be legal in these states while offering AR-15 magazine compatibility and 250 ft-lbs more energy than .30-30 at the muzzle.
CMMG's execution on the Mk4 Resolute platform is serious hunting hardware. The current 16.1-inch medium-taper barrel uses a 1:16 twist for 145-180 grain hunting bullets, with carbine gas and an adjustable .750 gas block. The rifle uses CMMG's ZEROED drop-in trigger, EML15 M-LOK handguard, RipStock, and a 10-round .350 Legend magazine.
Recoil is noticeably softer than a bolt-action .308, which matters for longer field sessions and new hunters. The rifle requires .350 Legend-specific magazines; standard 5.56 magazines should not be treated as reliable substitutes. At $1,599.95 MSRP it prices above budget straight-wall options but delivers a current, current factory configuration.
