Overview

Spec for spec, the FN FNX-45 Tactical makes the strongest argument of any pistol currently in production for the role of a modern .45 ACP duty and suppressor host. Its 15+1 double-stack capacity is the highest available in a .45 ACP pistol, exceeding the HK USP .45 Tactical (12+1) and the Glock 21 (13+1) without requiring extended magazines. The factory threaded barrel is cut to 0.578x28 LH, the standard for .45 ACP suppressors, and the factory slide comes milled with an RMR footprint and suppressor-height sights already installed. No other pistol ships with all three of those features from the box at any price.

The DA/SA action with external ambidextrous decocker mirrors the USP's approach: carry decocked with a round chambered for a deliberate DA first shot, then run SA for subsequent rounds. The decocker is mounted at the rear of the slide on both sides, accessible without shifting grip. Compared to the USP, the FNX-45 Tactical improves on capacity by three rounds and adds the factory optic cut, making it the stronger platform for anyone pairing a suppressor with a red dot. FN's cold hammer forged barrel delivers the accuracy and service life consistent with their military contract production standards.

The FNX-45 Tactical is the heir to FN's SOCOM pistol heritage. While the Mk23 was the original SOCOM suppressed .45, programs that followed looked to platforms with modern features, and the FNX-45 Tactical aligns with that direction: optic-ready, suppressor-capable, high-capacity, and DA/SA for safe carry with a round chambered. At 33.6 oz it is heavy, and the double-stack frame is thick, making it unsuitable for concealed carry. Its role is home defense, night stand, or dedicated suppressor host.
