Glock
Full-size 10mm with 15+1 capacity, SF-130 dual recoil spring, and the deepest 10mm aftermarket
0-10 Scale Across 8 Axes
The Glock 20 is the default 10mm pistol for good reason: it outsells every other 10mm model combined. The SF-130 dual recoil spring assembly was engineered specifically for full-power 10mm loads, preventing the frame battering that plagued earlier designs. At 15+1 capacity, the G20 carries more than double the rounds of any .44 Magnum revolver while weighing less, reloading faster, and presenting a significantly lower bore axis.
The aftermarket for the Glock 20 is the deepest of any 10mm platform. KKM Precision and Lone Wolf produce fully supported match barrels that eliminate the case bulging issue common with the factory barrel (a concern primarily for reloaders). Agency Arms and Zev Technologies offer complete slide packages. Polymer80 and similar manufacturers produce 10mm-compatible frames. The holster market, while smaller than the G19 ecosystem, has enough quality options from Safariland, T.REX Arms, and Tier 1 Concealed to cover duty and concealed carry.
For backcountry use against bears, the Glock 20 has become the standard recommendation among wilderness guides and wildlife agencies. A 15-round magazine of 200-grain hard cast at 1,200+ fps from the 4.61-inch barrel provides genuine stopping power in a package that rides comfortably in a chest holster during all-day hikes. The .44 Magnum revolver requires six shots, slow reloads, and significantly more weight for comparable terminal performance.
