Overview
The MR762 A4 is HK's current semi-automatic civilian rifle in the HK417 family. Its 16.5-inch barrel, short-stroke piston, and two-position gas regulator make it a practical starting point for a 7.62 marksman-style setup. The ambidextrous controls and M-LOK handguard give it a more modern layout than the older MR762A1.
The Army's M110A1 SDMR is a distinct military configuration. Start with the MR762 A4 if you want the HK operating system and are comfortable building a visual tribute around a civilian rifle. Its HK magazines, charging handle, barrel, and gas system also mean generic AR-10 parts are poor assumptions for a clone project.
