Savage 110 Ultralite Predator

The Ultralite Predator is the configuration in the Savage carbon-barrel line that was designed around a tripod. The beavertail forend carries an integral ARCA rail rather than an accessory rail you bolt on, so the rifle clamps straight into a tripod head or a saddle, and M-LOK slots remain for a bipod or light. Predator hunters shoot far more from tripods and truck hoods than from prone, and this is the only factory rifle in the Ultralite family that treats that as the default rather than the exception.

The second decision that separates this rifle from the rest of the line is the rail. Where the Ultralite Pro and Elite V2 ship a 20 MOA base, the Predator uses a one-piece 0 MOA rail. That is the correct call for a rifle that lives between 50 and 350 yards: 20 MOA of built-in cant eats usable travel at the near end and can push a low-magnification scope out of its zero range on close shots. Feeding is a 10-round AICS magazine, which is a real advantage when a second and third coyote steps out behind the first.

Barrels are carbon fiber and run 16.5 inches on .300 Blackout and 338 ARC, 18 inches on 5.56, 22 ARC, 6mm ARC, 6.5 Creedmoor, and .308 Win, and 22 inches on .22-250 Rem, 22 Creedmoor, and the long-barrel 6.5 Creedmoor. Weight runs 7.14 to 7.74 pounds, which makes the Predator the heaviest rifle in the Ultralite family even though it carries the line's shortest barrels. Buyers drawn in by the Ultralite name should size that up front: this is a 7-pound rifle, roughly half a pound over the Ultralite Pro and more than a pound over an Elite V2. The ARCA-railed beavertail forend and the 10-round magazine are where that weight went, and both are the reason to buy this configuration. Every chambering is cataloged in a left-hand model.
