Overview

The Archangel M1A is the affordable on-ramp from a traditional walnut or fiberglass M1A stock to a modern, adjustable, rail-equipped setup. It drops in without permanent modification to the rifle, so a shooter can move between the factory stock and the Archangel as needed. The shell is carbon-fiber and glass-reinforced polymer, which keeps cost and weight down while staying rigid enough to hold a consistent bed.

Adjustability is the draw. A click-adjustable cheek riser provides 1.75 inches of travel to line the eye up behind a mounted optic, and length of pull adjusts from 13.5 to 14.8 inches via spacers. A forend Picatinny rail with an extended rail cover takes bipods, lights, and sling hardware, four QD sling sockets and two sling studs handle mounting, and the design accepts standard M1A 5-, 10-, and 20-round magazines. ProMag also offers the Close Quarters variant for shorter, lighter builds.

The Archangel is not the lifetime-grade aluminum chassis the Sage EBR is, and the polymer forend flexes more than billet aluminum under a loaded bipod. But at roughly a quarter of the Sage's cost, it delivers adjustable cheek weld, adjustable LOP, and accessory rails, which is exactly what most M1A owners want when they leave the wood stock behind.
