Overview

The Rex Silentium SEG12 is a dedicated 12-gauge can built to run bird, buck, and slug loads with no choke restriction. Where choke-mount competitors like the Witt Machine Ravener-12 clear slugs only through a cylinder choke, the SEG12 shoots birdshot, buckshot, and slugs interchangeably, with no shell, load, or barrel-length limit inside its 3-inch envelope. Rex specifies the can for 3-inch and shorter 12-gauge hosts, so it covers the vast majority of defensive and sporting loads while leaving 3.5-inch magnums to longer-rated cans like the JK 195 SGX.

The GEN6 build is a modular design of eight baffles plus an end cap, and the arrangement can be alternated to shift where the can sits on the suppression-versus-length curve, so a single SEG12 covers more than one configuration on one stamp. The body is flat matte black anodized aluminum at 9.7 inches and 27 ounces without a mount, and the suppressor is full-auto rated. Mounting runs through a HUB-standard 1.375-24 rear thread; on a shotgun host it threads on through Rex's M22 choke-tube mount, so installation needs no permanent barrel work.

Rex Silentium does not publish a metered dB figure for the SEG12, so treat its sound reduction as unquantified by the maker rather than assuming a number. As an NFA item it still requires a Form 4 transfer, fingerprints, a NICS background check, and registration; the federal making and transfer tax on suppressors is now zero under current law, and 2026 eForm Form 4 approvals are running on the order of days to a couple of weeks. Suppressor ownership is legal in 42 states, so confirm your state allows it before buying.
