Overview
The SureFire SOCOM556-MINI2 is the shortest can in SureFire's SOCOM 2 series 5.56 line. It measures 5.0 inches long and 1.5 inches in diameter, weighs 15 ounces, and adds about 2.5 inches to the rifle depending on which SureFire adapter is installed. SureFire tunes it for 14.5-inch and longer M4-pattern barrels.
SureFire publishes sound data with M855 at the shooter's ear: 140 dB from a 10.3-inch barrel and 137 dB from both 14.5- and 16-inch barrels. The body combines high-temperature alloy with stainless steel under an Ionbond and Cerakote finish. SureFire says its internal venting lowers back pressure, cyclic rate, and gas blowback, and it rates visible flash suppression at up to 99 percent with flash-retardant ammunition.
The MINI2 mounts with SureFire's tool-less Fast-Attach system and works with the SureFire range of flash hiders, compensators, and WARCOMPs. It ships with a FirstSpear MOLLE pouch and cleaning brush, but no muzzle device. Against the newer SOCOM556-MINI4, it is half an inch shorter and adds half an inch less length at the same 15 ounces, while the MINI4 moves to an all-Inconel SOCOM-4 gas-flow design.
