Forward Controls Design
TDP-spec forged stripped upper made by Centurion Arms for FCD, with relief cuts above the charging handle for BUIS stalk clearance. No thermal fit, no T-marks.
Forward Controls Design's URF-F is what happens when a parts-obsessed shop decides the standard A3 upper is already good and only needs a couple of deliberate changes. It is a TDP-spec forged 7075-T6 upper made by Centurion Arms for FCD, Type III hardcoat anodized per MIL-A-8625F, with a standard M16 pocket. Dimensionally it is mil-spec, so it pairs with any standard barrel, handguard, and bolt carrier group.
The functional change is the relief cut and chamfers FCD machines into the area above the charging handle, ahead of where the 1913 rail begins. That clearance makes a flip-up rear backup sight's stalk easier to reach and deploy, a small ergonomic detail that matters on iron-sight-equipped builds. A 2023 revision added a rear bevel and anti-rotation pin-hole provisions that line up with HDSI, SOLGW, ZEV, and FN handguards, with a separate hole location for Centurion Arms and Ripcord rails.
FCD ships the URF-F stripped: it has provisions for a forward assist but does not include one, and the ejection port cover is an optional add. It does not require thermal fitting during barrel installation and omits the rail T-numbers FCD considers unnecessary. For a builder who wants Centurion-made forged quality with BUIS clearance and broad handguard anti-rotation compatibility, this is the detail-driven upper; budget separately for the forward assist and port cover.
