Best Glock MOS Optic Plates 2026: Footprints Ranked

The factory Glock MOS adapter plate is the weakest link in a red-dot Glock: the thin steel plate shears screws under recoil and walks your zero. These aftermarket aluminum, steel, and titanium plates keep the optic flush and the zero held, across every footprint the factory set does not cover.

Best Glock MOS Optic Plates 2026: Footprints Ranked

The factory Glock MOS adapter plate is the weakest link in a red-dot Glock. The thin steel plate does not seat the optic flush, so recoil loads the optic mounting screws directly and they back out over a few range trips, walking your zero even when the witness marks still look aligned. The fix is a machined metal plate that bears the recoil across its full body instead of the fasteners. For the common RMR / Holosun 507C footprint, the Forward Controls OPF-G RMR ($76) and the C&H Precision V2 steel RMR plate ($57.99) are the picks; dedicated C&H, Forward Controls, DPP, and Shield plates cover the Holosun EPS, 509T, Aimpoint ACRO, DeltaPoint Pro, and compact K footprints the factory set leaves out. These are Gen4/Gen5 MOS plates. If you own a Gen6, the ORS slide cut is a different system, so read our Glock Gen5 vs Gen6 comparison and the Gen6 ORS plate guide instead. We ranked the twelve MOS plates below by footprint, material, and price.

Why the Factory MOS Plate Fails

The factory plate fails because it does not seat the optic flush. Glock machines the MOS slide with a shallow pocket and a thin steel interface plate drops in as a spacer between the optic and the threaded slide holes. That plate is held to loose tolerances, so gaps open under the optic body and the mounting screws end up carrying the recoil load they were never sized to take. Over a few range trips the screws back out, the optic shifts, and the zero walks even when the witness marks still look aligned and the screws felt tight last time you checked.

A machined aftermarket plate fixes that by seating the optic flush and carrying recoil across the full plate body. Steel and titanium do it best because the material is stiffer than the factory stamped steel and the optic screws stop being the load path. Aluminum, as on the C&H Precision V4 EPS plate and the Calculated Kinetics DOGTAG, is a step down in rigidity but still a clear upgrade over the factory plate, and it is the only material offering the dedicated Holosun EPS cut at a reasonable weight. Re-torquing the factory screws only resets the clock. The plates in this ranking end the problem.

If you have not bought the optic yet, pick the footprint first and the plate second. Our best pistol red dot guide ranks the dots that mount on these MOS plates, and the best enclosed-emitter pistol red dots guide covers the EPS, 509T, and ACRO optics that pair with the dedicated aftermarket plates in this ranking.

Match Your Optic to the Right MOS Plate

Each MOS plate is cut for one optic footprint family. Find your optic, then buy the plate that matches it. The factory column tells you whether the plate already came in your MOS box or whether you need an aftermarket plate at all.

Two footprint traps catch MOS buyers out. The Holosun 509Thas its own enclosed footprint that no factory MOS plate covers, so it forces an aftermarket plate like the C&H V4 509T steel or the Calculated Kinetics DOGTAG. And the compact K and RMSc footprints share screw spacing but differ in recoil-lug geometry, so confirm your specific micro optic against the plate's listed set rather than assuming any small dot drops on. For the broader footprint picture across the 407C, 507C, 509T, EPS, and K families these plates adapt, our best Holosun optics guide breaks down which dot runs which footprint.

Steel, Aluminum, or Titanium: Which Material Holds Zero

Material is the second decision after footprint, and it tracks the recoil the plate has to carry. Steel is the most rigid and the right call for a duty or full-power load: the Forward Controls OPF-G plates and the C&H V4 509T steel plate are 4140, and the Jagerwerks MOS+ steps up to pre-hardened 4140 with an optional third-screw lock that resists recoil walk beyond any two-screw plate. Aluminum is the mainstream aftermarket choice and the only material carrying the dedicated Holosun EPS cut: the C&H V4 EPS uses 6061 with a Type III hard-anodized finish, and the Calculated Kinetics DOGTAG runs a lighter aluminum body with a deflection table that doubles as a rack point. Titanium splits the difference, stiffer than aluminum and lighter than steel, and the DPP Titanium plate at $39.95 is the cheapest premium-material MOS plate on the market.

On price, the factory plates run $13.19 as a replacement, the DPP Titanium K plate is $39.95, the C&H V2 steel RMR plate is $57.99, the mid-tier Forward Controls and C&H steel plates sit in the $67 to $80 band, and the configured Jagerwerks MOS+ can reach $130 with sights and the third-screw upgrade. The headline tradeoff is straightforward: steel and titanium end the recoil-walk problem for good, aluminum ends it for most shooters at a lighter weight, and the factory plate resets the countdown every range trip.

Which Glock Models These Plates Fit

Every plate in this ranking fits the full-size double-stack Glock MOS cut on the Gen4 and Gen5 pistols: G17, G19, G22, G23, G26, G34, G35, G41, G45, and G47. The C&H V4 EPS and 509T steel plates and the Forward Controls steel plates extend to the 10mm G20 and the .45 ACP G21 MOS, while the Calculated Kinetics DOGTAG is 9mm double-stack only. The DPP Titanium K plate fits the G20 and G21 but sits narrower by 0.077 inch per side, an honest cosmetic gap rather than a fit problem.

None of these plates fit the slimline Glock 43X MOS or Glock 48 MOS, which use a different, plate-free slide cut for micro optics. None fit the Gen6 Optic Ready System either, which is an entirely new slide cut with its own plate design. If you bought a Gen6, the Gen5 MOS vs Gen6 ORS comparison explains why, and the Gen6 ORS plate guide ranks the plates that do fit it. The factory plate is chosen by optic footprint, not pistol model: Plate 02 for RMR and Holosun C-footprint optics, Plate 04 for DeltaPoint Pro, EFLX, and Vortex Defender.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the factory GLOCK MOS plates good?
The factory Glock MOS adapter plates are the weakest link in a red-dot Glock. The thin steel plate does not seat the optic flush against the slide, so recoil loads the optic mounting screws directly and they back out over a few range trips, walking your zero even when the witness marks still look aligned. Re-torquing only resets the clock. A machined aluminum, steel, or titanium aftermarket plate seats flush and carries recoil across the plate body, which is the whole reason to replace the factory plate.
What plate comes with a MOS GLOCK?
A full-size double-stack Glock MOS ships with a factory adapter set: Plate 01 for Doctor/Meopta/Insight/Vortex/Burris, Plate 02 for Trijicon RMR and Holosun C-footprint optics (except the 509T, which no factory plate covers), Plate 03 for C-More, and Plate 04 for Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, EOTech EFLX, and Vortex Defender ST/XT/XL. No factory plate covers the Holosun 509T, EPS, K, or Aimpoint ACRO footprints, which is why those optics require an aftermarket plate.
What is the best MOS plate for a Glock 19?
For the Glock 19 MOS, the Forward Controls OPF-G RMR ($76) is the best overall RMR/Holosun C-footprint plate, and the C&H Precision V2 steel RMR plate ($57.99) is the best budget steel option. For the Holosun EPS footprint, the C&H Precision V4 EPS plate ($79.99) is the dedicated pick. The Glock 19 MOS uses the same full-size double-stack MOS cut as the Glock 17, 34, and 45, so any full-size MOS plate listed here fits it.
Do you need a plate for GLOCK MOS?
Yes for double-stack MOS pistols (G17/19/26/34/45/47 etc.), which use a screw-down adapter plate system. For slimline MOS pistols (Glock 43X MOS and Glock 48 MOS), the factory RMSc cut fits some micro-optics natively, but requires an adapter plate to mount Holosun K-series (407K/507K) and EPS Carry optics unless the slide lugs are permanently modified. The full-size MOS system always needs a plate between the slide cut and the optic.
Will a Glock Gen5 MOS plate fit the Gen6?
No. The Glock Gen6 Optic Ready System (ORS) is a new plate design, and the Gen4/Gen5 MOS adapter plates are not interchangeable with the Gen6 slide cut. The slide-cut geometry is entirely different, so a Gen5 MOS plate physically will not seat in a Gen6 slide. You need Gen6-specific ORS plates from Glock or an aftermarket maker. C&H Precision, Forward Controls Design, and GlockStore all list whether a plate is MOS (Gen4/5) or ORS (Gen6) on the product page.
What is the difference between the Holosun K and Shield RMSc footprints?
The Holosun K (407K/507K) and Shield RMSc footprints share the same screw spacing but use different recoil-lug geometry. The Holosun K has two recoil lugs while the Shield RMSc has four, so they are not interchangeable without filing the slide or using the manufacturer's adapter plate. Some compact aftermarket plates, like the GlockStore GS K Plate and the C&H K/RMSc plate, are cut to accept both, which is why the two footprints get conflated. Match your specific micro optic to the plate's listed footprint set before buying.

The Verdict

Buy the Forward Controls OPF-G RMR for the RMR footprint, the C&H V4 EPS for the Holosun EPS, and skip the factory plate unless no aftermarket cut exists for your optic.

For a full-size Gen4/Gen5 Glock MOS, the deciding question is which footprint your optic runs. The Forward Controls OPF-G RMR ($76) covers Trijicon RMR, SRO, RCR, and the Holosun 407C/507C family on one 4140 steel plate and is the safest default. The C&H Precision V4 EPS plate ($79.99) is the dedicated pick for the Holosun EPS, EPS Carry, and SCS Carry footprint the factory set ignores. On budget, the C&H V2 steel RMR plate ($57.99) is under $60 and outclasses the factory stamped plate. For enclosed emitters, the C&H V4 509T steel and the Forward Controls OPF-G ACRO cover the Holosun 509T and Aimpoint ACRO cuts with no factory equivalent. Plan the rest of your build with our pistol red dot guide and the Holosun optics guide.
