Esstac
Hard-kydex magazine retention in a chest rig format. Three rifle + two pistol/radio pouches on a Tegris hinge that flexes with the ribcage. The right pick when prone work and vehicle drills loosen elastic rigs.
The Esstac 5.56 3+2 Hinged Piggy is Esstac's hard-retention answer to the elastic-retention problem. Most modern chest rigs use elastic or shock cord to retain magazines, which is fast for reindex but loosens over time and can dump a mag under prone work, vehicle rolls, or aggressive movement. The Piggy uses hard kydex pockets sized to caliber, which retain the magazine until you deliberately pull it.
The 3+2 layout puts three 5.56 rifle pouches at the center and two utility pouches flanking them. The utility pouches are sized to take a single pistol magazine or a small radio. Esstac sizes the rifle pouches specifically for 5.56 (P-MAG, USGI, or steel) — they will not accept 7.62x51 or 7.62x39 magazines.
The "hinged" construction is the second piece of the Esstac formula. It lets the front panel flex around the wearer's ribcage as they move, which matters because hard-retention chest rigs are less forgiving than soft elastic rigs when the panel shape fights the body.
Typical chest-rig lead times run one to two weeks when the selected color and size is not already made. The 7.62 Quad Piggy, Triple Piggy, Bushboar, and Trimmed Bush are sibling SKUs with different mag layouts and caliber options.
