Heresy Design
Drop-in extended magazine release that enlarges the factory paddle for faster, surer mag changes on the AUG A3 M1 standard stock.
The factory Steyr AUG mag release is a small paddle behind the magazine, and reloading the rifle requires reaching across the magazine with the support hand thumb to actuate the release. The factory paddle is small enough that gloved hands or wet conditions can fumble the release, and the leverage is poor compared to a modern handgun or AR-15 mag drop. The Heresy Design Extended Magazine Release replaces the factory paddle with a larger surface that gives the shooter more leverage and a wider contact area for faster, surer mag changes.
Construction is machined aluminum with a hardcoat anodized finish. The release drops in to the factory AUG A3 M1 standard stock with no permanent modification. The larger paddle does not change the mag release operating mechanism, but the increased surface area materially shortens the time to release a mag and the effort required under gloves.
Fitment is exclusive to the AUG A3 M1 standard stock. AUG A3 NATO stocks (which use a STANAG-style mag well with bolt-release functionality) require the Heresy Enhanced Magazine Release for NATO at $80, which is a different part. Verify your stock pattern before ordering. Heresy Design also makes an Enhanced Magazine Latch for additional mag-fit improvement; combine the Extended Release with the Enhanced Latch for the cleanest reload setup.
