Builders working an M4A1 or SOPMOD Block II style upper that keeps its front sight base need a rail sized around that assembly instead of one that assumes a low-profile gas block. This is the M-LOK answer to the M4A1 FSP RIS II.
Everything else follows the RIS III pattern. The rail measures 12.96", weighs 16.38 oz, and is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a free-float barrel design. Seven M-LOK positions run along the handguard, integral QD swivel attachment points sit on both sides, and the mil-spec 1913 top rail is uninterrupted across the full length. Daniel Defense lists carbine gas system compatibility for this configuration.
Mounting is the patented six-bolt bolt-up system with a steel barrel nut and Grade 8 fasteners, backward compatible with RIS II hardware down to the same barrel nut and bolt-up plate. Daniel Defense notes that M203 hangers interfere with pinned and welded muzzle devices, and recommends a gunsmith install the rail on any firearm or upper receiver group that has one.
