Overview

The Nocpix QUEST S50R is the 1280-class flagship of Nocpix's QUEST thermal binocular family. A 1280x1024, 12-micron sensor rated at NETD 15 mK or better runs at 60 Hz behind a 50mm F1.1 germanium lens, giving 2x base magnification, digital zoom to 16x, and a 17.5 x 14 degree field of view (30 x 24 m at 100 m). Each eyepiece has its own 1920x1200 AMOLED display, with 25 mm eye relief, a 10 mm exit pupil, and plus or minus 5 diopter adjustment for comfortable long sessions.

The concealed laser rangefinder is rated to 1000 m, and the binocular supports ballistic calculation and N-Link data sharing with a compatible Nocpix riflescope through the Nocpix app. Reality+ processing and electronic image stabilization steady the image, and picture-in-picture helps on small targets. Power comes from an internal USB-C rechargeable battery plus a replaceable 18650 cell, so one source can be swapped while the other keeps the unit running. The rubber-coated housing is IP67 rated, and recording goes to 64 GB of onboard storage.

Against Pulsar's Merger LRF XT50, the S50R matches the 1280x1024 resolution and 17.5-degree view, adds a 60 Hz refresh rate and per-eye displays, and costs less, but its rangefinder reaches 1000 m rather than 1500 m.

Key Features

  • 1280x1024 12-micron thermal sensor, NETD ≤15 mK, 60 Hz frame rate
  • 50mm F1.1 lens, 2x base magnification, digital zoom to 16x, 17.5 x 14 degree field of view
  • Dual 1920x1200 AMOLED displays with 25 mm eye relief, 10 mm exit pupil, plus or minus 5 diopter
  • Concealed laser rangefinder rated to 1000 m with ballistic calculation
  • Reality+ image processing, electronic image stabilization, and picture-in-picture
  • Internal USB-C rechargeable battery plus replaceable 18650 cell for hot swaps
  • IP67 rubber-coated housing, 64 GB recording, N-Link sharing with compatible Nocpix riflescopes

Pros

  • +1280x1024 resolution and a 17.5-degree view for less money than Pulsar's 1280 binoculars
  • +60 Hz refresh rate keeps moving animals smooth
