Burris
Budget 1-6x LPVO with Ballistic AR reticle and generous 4-inch eye relief
The Burris RT-6 1-6x24 competes directly with the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6x24 in the sub-$500 LPVO bracket, distinguishing itself with a 3.3-4.0 inch variable eye relief range and 11-setting illuminated Ballistic AR reticle. Burris markets the RT-6 as a tactical-duty scope, and the generous eye relief makes it forgiving when shooting from non-standard positions or with heavy plate carriers that shift cheek weld forward.
The Ballistic AR reticle uses a broken-circle design calibrated for common .223/5.56 loads, with holdovers to 600 yards. Running SFP on a 30mm tube, holdovers are only accurate at maximum 6x, which is the standard limitation for SFP scopes at this price tier. The 11 illumination settings use a rotary dial with clear detents. One practical limitation: the 80 MOA adjustment range is significantly less than the Strike Eagle's 140 MOA, which can affect buildingout extreme-distance zeros or accommodating offset-mounted setups.
Burris Optics is headquartered in Greeley, Colorado, and emphasizes domestic quality control on the RT-6 despite assembly in Asia. The Forever Warranty provides full coverage without the "negligent damage" carve-out found in some competitor policies. Against the Strike Eagle Gen II, the RT-6 gives up adjustment range and a slight glass-quality edge, but wins on eye relief flexibility and brand warranty reputation among duty-use shooters.
