The Vortex Defender-XL is the large-window member of the Defender pistol optic family, sized for full-size duty pistols where viewing window real estate matters more than holster compatibility. The window is the largest in the sub-$400 pistol optic tier, with a 2.03-inch length and 1.93 oz weight that puts it between the standard Defender-ST and the largest competitive optics like the Holosun 509T.

The XL uses the DeltaPoint Pro footprint, the same standard as the Leupold DPP and the Vortex Defender-ST. Reticle options include 2 MOA, 5 MOA, or 8 MOA red dots and a 3 MOA green dot. The large window pairs naturally with the larger 5 and 8 MOA dot sizes for fast pickup at duty engagement distances. Battery life runs 25,000 hours on a top-loading CR2032, with 12 brightness settings (10 daylight plus 2 night vision compatible).
