Overview
The Crye JPC 2.0 is the carrier most other lightweight plate carriers are measured against. Just over a pound on the scale with a skeletal MOLLE cummerbund and SAPI-cut plate pockets, it set the template that Ferro, Spiritus, and Agilite all build against. The cummerbund pulls flat against the body when loaded, and the front face accepts the AVS detachable flap ecosystem.
What you give up at this weight is plate-cut flexibility. The JPC 2.0 is sized around standard SAPI plate dimensions, with separate Swimmer Cut and Maritime models available for buyers outside that fit envelope. Side plate carriage requires separate JPC side armor pouches or skipping side plates entirely.
The AVS flap interface is the JPC 2.0's real ecosystem advantage. The same Cobra Flap and Detachable Flap that mount on the AVS bolt to the JPC 2.0, which means a buyer can scale up from a slick low-vis JPC to a flap-equipped clone build without buying a second carrier. That cross-compatibility is what keeps the JPC 2.0 on this list five years after the 2.0 revision.
